GAURI SAWANT

​Gauri Sawant is a transgender activist from Mumbai, she was the first transgender election ambassador for 2019 Loksabha Election Selected by Election Commission of India.’                and was also the First transgender to file a petition in the Supreme Court for adoption rights of transgenders and was also a petitioner in the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) case in which the Supreme Court recognised ‘transgender’ as the third gender.’ 
She is the founder of Saki Char Chowghi, an NGO that promotes safe sex and protects sex workers and their children from abuse.

Ms.Gauri Sawant has won several accolades for her inspirational work including ‘Shoor Veer Award’, ‘I am a Woman Award’, ‘The Global Woman Achiever award’, ‘Giving Economy Conclave Award 2018’, ‘V Awards 2018- Inspiring Womanhood’ and she was the Key Panelist in the “Third Eye Summit” to discuss core issues of Transgend
She is currently working for the Projects such as AAJI CHA GHAR -A safe home for abandoned senior transgenders and girl child of prostitutes and project SWAYAM SIDDHA – Empowering Transgenders, making them self sufficient and financially independent.
